If you're a fan of cats, then be sure to visit Japan's Aoshima Island, otherwise known as "Cat Island." Aoshima Island is just one of a few small Japanese islands populated with more wild cats than people. Aoshima is home to hundreds of cats that quite clearly have taken over the island and actually outnumber humans six to one making it quite the spectacle. The tiny Aoshima Island has seen a sharp increase in tourism after recently gaining popularity worldwide online.

The cats were introduced to the island via shipping and have since multiplied like crazy slowly taking over.

The cats can often be seen hanging around the harbour area waiting for tourists to arrive. Trying to walk around the island can prove to be a little difficult with all these moggies fighting over your attention. The local residents on the island make sure the cats are well fed and looked after. The cats use abandoned buildings for shelter and sleep bundled together in one giant furry mess.
